General Questions
Does Sparkling Tea contain caffeine?
Yes! All true tea comes from the camellia sinensis plant and its leaves naturally contain caffeine. Servings of Susurrus Sparkling Tea contain less caffeine than coffee or a soda, and significantly less caffeine than espresso.
The experience of tea's caffeine is also quite unique! Tea leaves contain incredibly high amounts of polyphenols (aka "tannins" for the wine lovers). In addition to being powerful antioxidants, these moderate the release of caffeine. Meaning, you do not crash or get the jitters.
Additionally, tea is the only plant to naturally synthesize a lovely amino-acid called L-Theanine. We have this compound to thank for tea's anti-anxiety, calming effects. Studies have shown L-Theanine to increase Alpha waves in the brain, relaxing the mind and body.
Enjoying these three compounds together results in tea's uniquely happy, calm, and focused "buzz." No wonder monks have been drinking tea to enhance their meditations for centuries!
Does Susurrus Sparkling Tea contain alcohol?
Nope! Each bottling is inherently non-alcoholic and no fermentation is involved.
How long will my bottle stay fresh?
Each bottle should be enjoyed within 12 months of purchase. Ideal storage is very similar to wine - a cool, dark place with consistent temperatures to preserve the aromas and flavors.
After 12 months, your bottle will not spoil. It may simply begin to loose its inherent characteristics that make it as enjoyable as possible.
Once you pop the cork, you can use a bottle stopper as a seal to preserve the champagne-like bubbles for many days, especially if stored in the refrigerator.
